The success of any organisation lies in the skills of its people. However, when it comes to digital technologies we’re facing a growing skills deficit. The European Commission has recently warned that Europe could face a shortage of up to 900,000 ICT professionals by 2020 – big numbers, and an even bigger challenge. At our November event we’re holding a ‘Question Time’ style debate, bringing together a panel of business leaders, educators, training providers and voluntary organisations to discuss the challenges, propose solutions and identify opportunities.Chaired by Kevin Ward, Editor of the South Wales Argus, confirmed panelists include:John Holvey, Alacrity Foundation – the start ups view
Chris Gabriel, Logicalis – the IT sector view
Dave Sadler, Acorn – the training provider view
Ceri Ann Clark, Cadoxton Primary School – the schools view
Jackie Harris, University of South Wales – the university view
Event InformationThis month we will be running a ‘Question Time’ style debate, chaired by Kevin Ward, Editor of the South Wales Argus, with a panel of experts from business, education, training providers and voluntary organisations. We hope this will spark a lively debate between the panel and the audience. Each panel member will have 1 minute to introduce themselves, the organisation they represent and their perspective on the skills challenge. This will be followed by a panel debate with interaction and questions from the audience.
